Tweeding Frenzy

tweed clemence

With Christmas around the corner and cool temperatures finally upon us {hooray!}, I always love to rummage through my closet and find treasures that I haven’t gotten to wear in many months.  This week, in rotating my wardrobe a bit, I found several tweed jackets that made my heart skip a beat.  I love tweed!  It looks so sharp ~ whether worn as an outfit staple or just as an accent ~ and it kicks my sophistication meter up a notch {at least in my head!}  It’s hard not to feel proper and well put-together wearing a fun tweed jacket paired with dark skinny jeans or a sleeveless tweed mini over a ribbed turtleneck.

With the fabulous pastel colors and patterns you’ll find on blazers and coats, you can add a little sunshine to an otherwise frosty day.  I came across a quote from one designer that referred to tweed as “one of the world’s most noble fabrics.”  I don’t know about “noble,” but it has been in style for ages, making it a great investment piece.  Like me, you’ll be able to pull it out of your closet, winter after winter, with the confidence that you’ll always look tres CHiC.

Toss the idea that tweed is only for country gentlemen, although fellas do look smashing in the fabric.  And with the equestrian trend so hot right now, it looks great paired with leggings and leather riding boots.

Wearing this fabric, you’re sure to feel like a “tweeding lady,” er, leading lady…  Sorry, enough with the puns.  Regardless, if your goal is to stun, tweed is for you this winter.

Have you fallen for tweed like I have?  Worn with cashmere or silk to dress it up or with boyfriend jeans and flats to dress it down, tweed is a “need” this season.
